The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for eight divisions of the country, including the capital, in effect until 11am on Thursday (April 30).
Meteorologist Md. Shahinul Islam provided this information on Wednesday (April 29). He said there is a possibility of heavy rain and lightning during this period.
Meteorologist Shahinul also reported that alert signal number 3 remains in force for river and sea ports throughout the country. In addition, fishing vessels have been advised to remain close to shore until further notice.
He added that the trend of heavy rain, lightning and Kalbaishakhi storm could continue for the next 4-5 days across the country. However, starting May 5, precipitation is expected to decrease and temperatures to gradually increase.
Given this situation, the Department of Meteorology has advised against unnecessary outdoor activities, avoiding open spaces during lightning strikes and taking extreme precautions in naval navigation.
