India Post GDS Results 2026: When were the results announced in the past?

Following past trends, according to the circle, merit lists were published. Six merit lists were issued in 2025, with the last one being published on July 30, 2025. The first merit list was issued with the results.

How to check the merit list?

Candidates can access the merit list by visiting the official website, indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. In the ‘Candidate Corner’ section, click on the ‘Merit List’ link and then choose ‘Shortlisted Candidate List’ for the concerned state or circle. The merit list will appear in PDF format, which can be downloaded and saved for future use.

The merit list will include the name of the division, position, position, community, registration number, percentage of marks obtained and place of document verification.

India Post GDS 2026: What happens after the results?

The Department will publish the list of applicants shortlisted for participation on the GDS Online Participation Portal. Once the results are declared, the shortlisted candidates will be notified of their selection dates and document verification via SMS to their registered mobile numbers and email to their registered addresses, the prospectus mentions.

Shortlisted candidates are required to report to the office within 15 days of shortlisting for physical verification of documents and completion of recruitment formalities. Failure to appear within the stipulated deadline will result in the candidate being marked as ‘Non-Shown’ and his/her candidature will be cancelled.

Documents to carry for physical verification.

Candidates are required to carry original documents (as applicable) along with two sets of attested photocopies, including:

–Mark sheet

–Identity proof

–Caste certificate (if necessary)

–PwBD Certificate (if necessary)

–EWS certificate (if necessary)

–Transgender certificate (if necessary)

–Proof of date of birth

–Medical certificate issued by a government hospital/dispensary/primary health care center (mandatory)

–Certificate of knowledge of tribal/local dialects or languages ​​to participate in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim or Goa.

Final selections based on physical verification.

The final selection of shortlisted applicants will depend on physical verification of the original documents. If the verification shows no discrepancies and the documents match the originals, the process will be considered successful and a system-generated ‘Provisional Hiring Offer’ will be issued immediately.

Upon successful verification, candidates must complete pre-commitment formalities within 30 days of receiving the provisional offer. These include three days of basic training, accommodation arrangements and other requirements. Failure to complete these steps or join within the stipulated period will result in cancellation of the candidature, and the position will be offered to the next candidate.

After completing the pre-commitment formalities, candidates will be allowed to join provisionally, pending verification of educational, caste, disability and other certificates by the issuing authorities as well as background checks by the police. Once all the verification reports have been received, the Contracting Authority will issue the final recruitment order, thus regularizing the appointment of the Gramin Dak Sevak.

What happens to candidates who appear on supplementary lists?

Shortlisted candidates who appear on complementary lists must follow the same document verification process and pre-hire procedures. The participation process will close on June 30, 2026, after which no further lists of shortlisted candidates will be published.

The pay scale ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 24,470 per month for ABPM and GDS positions, while BPM positions offer a higher salary range of Rs 12,000 to Rs 29,380 per month.
