Will OnePlus exit India soon? The company shared its plan amid speculations & more related News Here

Amid the significant product restructuring currently underway, technology company OnePlus is insisting that it is “business as usual” for its Indian operations, attempting to dispel rumors about the company’s possible departure from the Indian market. OnePlus, owned by smartphone giant Oppo (a subsidiary of BBK Electronics), told HT that it will remain an independent entity in the Indian market.

OnePlus phones will soon switch to a unified approach from the company’s own OxygenOS operating system, using the ColorOS software also used in Oppo’s phones. They classify this as an “operational adjustment”, a change that will happen gradually once the Android 17-based operating system update is ready.

“This does not change OnePlus’ commitment to its customers and does not devalue the experience,” a OnePlus spokesperson told HT.

OnePlus, which launched a new N6 mid-range smartphone in June, is struggling to hold on to the market. Q1 2026 numbers from Cybermedia Research show that OnePlus reported a 28% decline in shipments year-over-year. One notable detail is that the flagship OnePlus series (15 and 15R) contributed 48% of volume, indicating a strong performance in the premium price band.

At the recently concluded Amazon Prime Day 2026 sale, OnePlus confirmed that it was the best-selling smartphone brand across all segments. Apart from this, OnePlus was the best selling smartphone brand. 15,000- 50,000 price points. The N6 was the best-selling phone on the shopping platform across all price segments. OnePlus N6 competes with Samsung Galaxy M47, Nothing Phone 4B and Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 SE.

New N6, prices start from Rs 19,999 and powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6360 Apex chip with 4GB or 6GB memory and 128GB storage, will sit alongside the existing Nord series in the company’s phone portfolio, marking a new attempt at volume at a lower price. HT has not reviewed the N6 and cannot comment on the performance or overall value proposition of the smartphone.

The company also confirms to HT that the promised software and security patch timeline for existing OnePlus phones will be met using ColorOS, instead of OxygenOS. A OnePlus spokesperson says, “Software updates, security patches and after-sales support are fully guaranteed for all existing devices even after the development of ColorOS.”

Using the same underlying software for OnePlus and Oppo phones is expected to allow the manufacturers to consolidate and accelerate innovation with the goal of creating “world-class software.” Development of artificial intelligence (AI) features will also be shared.
