Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said the state had moved away from the politics of “appeasement” and “fatwas” towards a model focused on public welfare, while attacking previous governments for allegedly encouraging communal and caste-based policies.

Addressing a program in Saharanpur after laying the foundation stones of 325 development projects worth Rs 2,131 crore, Adityanath said western UP had undergone a major transformation. “Earlier, government funds were spent on graveyard boundary walls, illegal encroachments and caste and community appeasement. Today, the same money is used for roads, universities, sports schools, RCC drains, highways and development of religious and tourist sites,” the CM said.
