The US Treasury Department has sought information from Adani Enterprises Ltd regarding allegations in a news report that the company has imported Iranian oil products into India.
Adani began discussions with the Treasury’s sanctions arm, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, following the publication of a Wall Street Journal article last June, the company said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday. It said Adani received the request for information on February 4.
Shares of Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of Adani Group, fell by 3.5% on Tuesday. The Wall Street Journal reported that companies controlled by Gautam Adani were being investigated by US prosecutors regarding the import of Iranian liquefied petroleum gas through the Mundra port.
