It is the result of the irony sitting inside Allianz
What makes the Allianz case particularly noteworthy for insurance professionals is the company’s parallel recognition as the sector’s AI standard-bearer. Just weeks before confirming the job losses, Allianz was named number one in the 2026 Evident AI Index for insurance, ahead of 29 competitors, with a talent pool 28% larger than its nearest competitor and more than 900 registered AI use cases across the business. Allianz board member, Barbara Carruth-Zell, described the rankings as reflecting “thousands of moments that matter: a claim processed faster, a customer experience reimagined… a co-worker freed up to do what really matters.” For the approximately 1,800 people who lost their jobs at Allianz Partners, “free” will read very differently.
