The pieces I buy multiple times are ones I have tried and tested and keep buying again and again. I know I love them, I know they work, and I know they hold their place, so I buy them again in a different color, or in a stripe instead of solid. Each edition opens up a new variety of outfits, whether it’s a weekend away or a slow day at home, and each edition brings a little freshness to what I already have.

A foundation piece doesn’t have to be boring or something that lives in the back of the closet. For me it must continue to exist: a cotton Tank with some shape, a white skirt It looks perfect with sandals and more dressy flats striped shirt It’s casual and comfortable but still crisp. I can keep adding versions as each one changes the outfit slightly, and suddenly the trusted pieces are what make everything else more fun to wear.
