Carlsberg files IPO papers confidentially

Mumbai: Danish brewer Carlsberg has confidentially filed draft IPO documents for its Indian unit with market regulator Sebi earlier this week, the company said. “The progress and timing of the potential IPO will depend on a number of factors, including regulatory review and approval as well as current market conditions,” a Global spokesperson said in a statement. It is understood that the IPO will not involve any primary share sale.After months of lull, activity on the IPO street is picking up and many companies have filed draft papers. Amid the US-Iran ceasefire and improving situation in West Asia, investment bankers expect the second half of the year to be busy. Jio Platforms, NSE, Zepto and Oyo parent Prism are among the companies that are poised to get listed on the stock exchange. The IPO of Jio Platforms alone is expected to raise up to $3.8 billion and would be India’s largest stock market listing ever.Carlsberg began commercial operations in India in 2007 with the launch of Carlsberg Green in the premium beer segment. It competes with major brands like Budweiser and Kingfisher in the market.
