Claude AI Faces Global Outage After Anthropic’s Mythos Preview Revealed

Services powered by Anthropic’s Claude AI experienced a widespread outage on Tuesday, leaving users in all regions unable to access key tools including Claude Chat, Claude Code, and the mobile app. The outage emerged shortly after the company unveiled its latest AI model, Claude Mythos Preview, sparking speculation about a possible connection between the announcement and service instability.

According to outage tracking platform Downdetector, issue reports began to increase rapidly, with the outage peaking at around 12:30 pm IST in India. At that time, almost 491 users had reported problems accessing Claude’s services. Anthropic officially acknowledged the outage at 06:23 UTC (11:53 am IST), stating that it was investigating the issue. In a later update at 07:59 UTC (1:29 pm IST), the company confirmed that the root cause had been identified and a fix was being actively implemented.

The timing of the outage raised eyebrows, coming just hours after Anthropic unveiled Claude Mythos Preview, its most advanced AI model to date. The company claims that the new model outperforms its previous flagship, Claude Opus 4.6, as well as competing systems such as Gemini 3.1 in multiple performance tests. Highlighting its potential, Anthropic revealed that Mythos was capable of identifying thousands of cybersecurity vulnerabilities in applications and operating systems, many of which had reportedly gone undetected by human reviewers.

To further strengthen its implementation, Anthropic noted that it is collaborating with more than 40 technology companies to test Mythos and address identified vulnerabilities before a broader public release.

This latest outage adds to a series of recent service disruptions affecting Claude. On April 7, the platform experienced a major outage that lasted just over an hour, while a partial outage was reported on April 3. Previously, on March 31, users had also raised concerns about the unusually fast consumption of token limits, restricting their use.

Addressing the issue at the time, Anthropic’s Lydia Hallie stated on X that the company was “actively investigating.” Following the investigation, which concluded on April 3, Hallie apologized for the inconvenience and confirmed that internal processing had been improved. He added that these optimizations should allow the system to “use less computing for the same tasks and perform better.” He also said that the company is rolling out more efficiency improvements and asked users to stay on the latest version.

Despite these technical setbacks, Anthropic continues to experience strong business momentum. The company recently announced that its revenue has surpassed $30 billion, a significant increase from the $9 billion reported at the end of 2025. This rapid growth underscores the growing demand for advanced artificial intelligence solutions.

To support future expansion, Anthropic has also entered into agreements with Google and Broadcom to secure multiple gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity. According to the company, this new infrastructure is expected to begin operating in 2027, positioning Anthropic to meet growing global demand.
