New Delhi: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said India wants to diversify its sources of crude oil and coking coal and would like to get high quality coking coal from the US. He also said that America can provide some goods which India desperately needs for economic growth. These goods may include graphics processing units for AI applications, equipment for data centers and high-performance computing. India can manufacture products that the US cannot compete with, he said, while the US can be a strong source of technology and capital. Goyal said there is already demand for aircraft worth $100 billion from the US over the next five years and the country needs more to increase local capacity and bring down fares. “We want to diversify our oil sources. For example, I want to diversify the source of coking coal. I (for this) depend on 2 or 3 geographies and prices keep fluctuating. I would love to see high quality American coking coal come to India,” he said.
