Australian batsman Travis Head rose to the top of the ICC men’s Test batting rankings after the English pair of Joe Root and Harry Brook had disappointing outings in the third Test against New Zealand, while Ishan Kishan replaced teammate Abhishek Sharma at the top of the ICC men’s T20I batting rankings after their two-match series in Ireland.
Root and Brook lost 31 and 14 points respectively, with Head becoming the first Australian to top the Test batting rankings since Marnus Labuschagne awarded the top spot to Root in June 2023. Head now has 853 rating points, just one point ahead of Brook, while Root has fallen to third just a week into his 12th.th a season at the top of the rankings.
Nottingham centurions Daryl Mitchell (up five places to 11th).th), Devon Conway (up 14 spots to 15) and Tom Latham (up 12 spots to 31).street) have gained hugely after their team won the ICC World Test Championship series 2-1. England opener Ben Duckett’s first ton of innings has helped him move from 17th at 14th place.
Matt Henry lost one per cent of his points tally after missing the match through injury and conceded the top spot in the ICC men’s Test bowling rankings to Jasprit Bumrah just a week after achieving it. Nathan Smith finished the series as the leading wicket-taker and moved up eight places to 38th.th while William O’Rourke has risen five places to 27thth.
England captain Ben Stokes finished his Test career as the 34th-ranked bowler after moving up three places in the list and as the third-ranked all-rounder after moving up two places. he is 54th in Test batting rankings.
In the latest weekly update which also considers performances in the first Test between the West Indies and Sri Lanka and the one-off Test between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, Sri Lanka’s Dhananjay de Silva (up six places to 21ststreet) and West Indies’ Roston Chase (up 14 places to 79thth) have moved up the batting rankings, while the Windies pair of Shamar Joseph (up nine places to 14thth) and Kemar Roach (up four places to 17thth) as well as Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani (up six places to 19th) have gained positions among bowlers.
In the ICC men’s T20I batting rankings, Sharma’s 11-month reign at the top has come to an end after India’s shock 2-0 series defeat in Ireland. Kishan has risen to the top for the first time, becoming the fourth from his country to do so after Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Sharma.
Ireland’s Lorean Tucker, who scored a half-century in the first match against India, has moved up four places to 77th.thHarry Tector has risen one place to 79th placeth and Ross Adair rises six places to 84th. Bowler Matthew Humphreys has moved up one place to 25thth after finishing with four wickets in the series.
