Lace Shorts: Love Them or Leave Them? Initially, I was on the fence, but this trend has really grown on me, especially since it’s evolved into different interpretations, like longer lengths. And I know a lot of you are loving it too, so I thought it was about time we had a chat! Today, much like my jean shorts review, I’m going to run through my favorite styles, some alternative options, what to wear with them, and some lace shorts outfit ideas from a millennial’s perspective.
Are lace shorts still in style in 2026?
If you’re a millennial, you probably remember the lace shorts trend of the 2000s and 2010s. At the time, styles were typically very short, with layers of white or ivory lace layered over each other and paired with copious amounts of accessories (I’m talking infinity scarves, layered necklaces, and sky-high wedges — no matter how short the shorts were). Even in the 1970s, the first versions of lace shorts with a more bohemian feel existed, often paired with flowy tops in crocheted styles.
So no, this trend isn’t exactly “new”, but what is Is There are new modern interpretations that we are seeing in 2026. Today’s lace shorts feel more sophisticated, with a longer inseam, higher fabric and minimalist styling. And while we started seeing the early stages of this trend last year, it has become even more popular in recent months.
The Best Lace Shorts for Every Style
One of the best things about the growing popularity of lace shorts is the abundance of options currently available, from boho to preppy, there’s something for everyone. Great styles, cute pieces, great lengths, and more are now available for under $100. Here are some of my current favorites for spring and summer.
Lace Shorts Under $100
There are lots of great affordable options on the market right now. At the top of my list is this pair priced under $60, which comes in six colors from one of my favorite retailers. I also like that although these shorts are on the short side, they aren’t the ultra-micro length I’m seeing in some brands.

Are you looking for long-length styles? I’ve got you covered. I think these are the best long length lace shorts on the market so far. They give off a classic old money style feel, which is still very much in trend. This unique pair also takes a great hit on the trend, combining a more traditional pleated Bermuda short with feminine lace trim.
And while these lace shorts aren’t necessary NowI like that the lace is not a cutout, sheer style, which gives you a lot more coverage than some of the other options out there.

There are plenty of lace shorts on the market right now worth investing in. These are the type of pieces that come with a higher price tag but will last beautifully through each season. Some of my favorites are this style, this one, and this pair.
If you want something extra, maybe jacquard or striped, then lucky for you, some of my favorite brands have recently released some very fun takes on this trend. I personally love this striped lace short for under $50. I also think these jacquard lace shorts look great for the price.
Lace shorts options
While this trend has definitely grown on me, I know lace shorts aren’t for everyone. However, there are some thoughts on this trend that may work for anyone who still isn’t completely sold on it.
One option is a great slip skirt with lace trim, which I personally love. There are some beautiful styles out there right now, like this fabulous brown and blue skirt, this pastel beauty, and this very classic option.

For a casual look, you can pair lace shorts with vintage-inspired sneakers and a soft, slouchy tee. Do you want something fancier? Style the same pair with a silk cami, strappy summer sandals, and a luxury duster. The versatility is truly incredible!
And while the styling possibilities are endless, I know it’s sometimes helpful to have a few specific outfit ideas in mind for inspiration. Here are three fun lace shorts looks to try this summer!

Since lace shorts can be a bit revealing, it’s good to balance the look with a little more coverage on top. These neutral shorts would look great with this clean tweed jacket and these simple sandals.
