Important Dates for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026
As per the notification, the application process starts from January 31, 2026 and will end on February 14, 2026. Candidates can pay the application fee until February 16, 2026, up to 5 pm. The application correction window will be available on February 18 and 19, 2026. The first merit list is scheduled to be released on February 28, 2026.

Application process
Candidates must visit indiapostgdsonline.gov.in to access the GDS Online Participation Portal. The process involves completing the online registration with personal and educational details, paying the application fee through online mode, filling the application form, uploading the required scanned documents and submitting the form. Applicants are advised to download and retain a copy of the submitted application for future reference. Candidates may experience difficulty accessing the website during peak hours due to heavy portal traffic.
Eligibility and selection criteria
Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years of age and have passed Class 10 from a recognized board. The notification specifies that candidates must have studied mathematics, English and the local language up to class 10. Basic computer skills, cycling skills and adequate livelihood are mandatory. Selection will be based on a merit list prepared with Class 10 marks, without written examination.
Application Fee and Salary Scale
The registration fee for the recruitment process is Rs 100, which needs to be paid before submitting the online application. The pay scale for the posts of Gramin Dak Sevak and Assistant Branch Postmaster ranges between Rs 10,000 and Rs 24,470 per month, while the Branch Postmaster posts have a monthly salary of between Rs 12,000 and Rs 29,380.
