From struggling in Tamil Nadu first division cricket to glory in the U-19 World Cup, RS Ambrish has seen a phenomenal rise. The teenager scaled another peak on Friday when he earned his first IPL contract after being picked as a replacement by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In an exclusive interaction with The Hinduthe all-rounder revealed how he made the cut. The announcement came while Ambrish was on the field during a TNCA first division match. “I met him during a water break,” he said.
For the young man from TN, the call-up is a natural progression after knocking on the doors of the franchise. The 18-year-old had attended trials with Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, but it was the Orange Army that bagged his services.
