Markets rise for second day; Sensex jumps over 800 points

Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended 1% higher on Friday (July 10, 2026), taking their winning streak to the second day, helped by a rally in heavyweights Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank.

Lower crude oil prices and buying of TI stocks after TCS reported a rise in its June quarter net profit and guided towards improvement in demand returning in the current quarter also fueled the rally in the domestic market.

The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 827.57 points, or 1.08%, to settle at 77,569.39. During the day, it soared 900.41 points, or 1.17%, to 77,642.23.

The 50-share NSE Nifty rose 244.10 points, or 1.02%, to end at 24,206.90.

From the Sensex group, Reliance Industries, Tech Mahindra, Bharat Electronics, Axis Bank, Tata Steel and Infosys were among the top gainers.

TCS ended 1% higher after the country’s largest IT services company on Thursday (July 9, 2026) reported a 4.61% rise in its June quarter net profit to ₹13,349 crore, guiding an improvement in crisis-hit demand from West Asia, returning in the current quarter.

Laggards from the Blue-Chip pack were Eternal, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma and Trent.

Brent crude, the world’s oil benchmark, fell 0.30% to $76.07 per barrel.

In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index finished higher, while Shanghai’s SSE Composite index closed lower.

Markets in Europe were trading with mixed results.

US markets ended higher on Thursday (July 9, 2026).

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded shares worth Rs 532.86 crore on Thursday (July 9, 2026), according to exchange data.

On Thursday (July 9, 2026), the Sensex rose 238.22 points, or 0.31%, to settle at 76,741.82. The Nifty rose 80.75 points, or 0.34%, to end at 23,962.80.
