Diljit Dosanjh’s first trailer Main Vaapas Aaunga was finally released, and the film follows the story of two star-crossed lovers who were separated by the difficulties of partition. The film, which will release on June 12, also stars Naseeruddin Shah. The man who usually keeps his public appearances to a minimum appeared briefly at the launch.
Although he is a veteran actor who is highly respected by everyone inside and outside Bollywood, his own ups and downs do him credit. Not all the films in which he participates become a great success, and those become his springboards.
Naseeruddin Shah knows that his filmography is not perfect
During the trailer launch event for Main Vaapas Aaunga, Naseeruddin Shah was asked about his role in the film and how he felt about it. There are some movies that you know did well and others that you can’t deny turned out horribly.
“I think the credit for an actor’s success should go to the writer and director. If the script is poor, not even the best actor in the world can do much to save the day. I am a living example of that. Maine kayi filmon mein bahut bura kaam bhi kiya hai. My sons (Imaad Shah and Vivaan Shah) watch such movies at 3am on YouTube. They wake me up and tell me, ‘Baba, aapki ek film chal rahi hai’! And I prefer to sleep (laughs).”
No matter how good or bad Naseeruddin Shah is as an actor, as long as the script is not up to the mark, he too will not shine. Some movies are for the actors and others for the stories.
“Imtiaz has written a lovely script comprising beautiful dialogues and powerful situations. I love the films he has done before. He has worked with a lot of love and honesty with the actors. Bahut hi kam aise directors mile hai jo actors ki performance ki wajah se taken up lete hai (laughs). And Imtiaz is one of them.”
His kids would wake him up in the middle of the night to tell him about the movies he’s not good at and, in his opinion, he’d rather walk away from them than face them again.
