Two games early, so I learned some of the player stuff quickly. I’ll be on both shows today too.

Nurse Quotes: He said they needed a little more variety in their offense, he said they were really trying to stop Brunson and the Nets made some shots, he said he didn’t think the Knicks were going to play smaller.
Read quote: He said he’s proud of the team for trying hard despite not being too sharp at times, he said they were able to get some rebounds when they needed them, he said Miller is “in control” when he has the ball in his hands, he said Miller is just seeing the right game and is getting more comfortable, he said he likes that Moussa is starting to let them switch more, he said “all five guys are committed to rebounding.”
Statistics and notes:
*No Joel Embiid and the 76ers were kind enough to not give us Q tags in a B2B. In their last 18 games, the Hornets are first in offensive rating thanks to a magnificent 29.7 points per 100 misses on the boards. They’re just 11th in half-court offense and don’t even run much like your average transition team. During this span, the 76ers are the worst team in the league at limiting opponent O boards, and they have been beaten by a ton. Overall, they’ve been solid at limiting guards, and adding Oubre should help a bit as well. For the Hornets defensively, they’re also the second-best team at limiting opponents’ O boards, and they’ve been limiting C&S stuff as well. This Hornets team seems headed for the play-in.
*Last week, Nurse Nick He said he liked the play to start Andre Drummond and giving Adem Bona most of the minutes (22/26 the last game). This matchup is terrible for centers anyway, so I wouldn’t be too aggressive in going after Drummond or Bona.
*Maxey Tyrese gets a great showdown here. The Hornets have a good transition defense, but they don’t have many good options to limit him. Kelly Oubre Jr. will play a lot and will have a difficult confrontation with Brandon Miller at both ends.
*LaMelo Ball should be in a good place against VJ Edgecombe. The 76ers don’t really send much help to VJ and give up a ton of PNR management points.
*Brandon Miller is also an option against Oubre, and Moussa Diabate gets a favorable spot against a 76ers team that funnels things to the rim (they do it with or without Embiid).
Big matchups: Moussa Diabate, LaMelo Ball, Tyrese Maxey
Good matchups: Miles Bridges, VJ Edgecombe
Bad matchups: Andre Drummond
