Actor Rajpal Yadav has been sentenced by the Delhi High Court to three months’ imprisonment in each of the seven check bounce cases arising out of a dispute over a debt of Rs 9 crore. According to the hearing that took place today, there is no remedy for the actor, since the court rejected his request for suspension, ordering immediate custody and imposing heavy financial sanctions on his family.Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma also ordered the actor to pay Rs 1.05 crore to the complainant in each case. Yadav has been ordered to pay Rs 1,04,75,000 to the perpetrator, along with Rs 25,000 to the State. The court further ordered his wife, Radha Yadav, to pay Rs 5,00,51,380 to the complainant in each of the seven cases. He clarified that the Rs 2.25 crore already paid by Rajpal Yadav would be adjusted to the total amount payable.During the previous hearing, Yadav appeared virtually and rejected the settlement proposal presented before the Court. He claimed that he had already suffered serious financial setbacks: “I had already suffered great financial losses.” *He further stated: *”I had been forced to sell my property and had already made substantial payments.”The High Court had also proposed a structured payment plan under which Rs 3 crore would be paid within a stipulated time frame. However, the Court made it clear that the proposal was simply a judicial suggestion and not a final agreement. Despite these efforts, the parties were unable to reach an agreement.
