HYDERABAD: Telangana Mission for Poverty Elimination in Municipal Areas (TMEPMA) will conduct a month-long special campaign under Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme in all urban local bodies (ULBs) from June 1 to 30.
Officials said the campaign will be carried out through SVANidhi Mahotsavs at the district level, Lok Kalyan Melas at the ULB level and outreach programs focused on census towns.
The government has set ambitious targets, including mobilizing 32,613 new vendors for first tranche loans, facilitating 32,694 credit card applications, socio-economic profiling of 40,122 vendors and sanctioning 97,149 social security benefits for vendors and their family members.
Within the central urban region, the targets include 5,075 first tranche loan applications in GHMC, 3,806 in CMC and MMC, and 329 in SCB. Similar targets have been set for credit cards, profiling and social coverage.
Officials said PM SVANidhi has become a key urban livelihood program by enabling vendors to access affordable credit, digital payments and social benefits. As part of the campaign, authorities will organize loan sanction camps, credit card registration drives, QR code distribution, awareness sessions on digital payments and follow-up support for beneficiaries.
Street vendors will also be trained on food safety and hygiene in collaboration with the FSSAI, along with digital literacy and business management sessions.
Lok Kalyan Melas will focus on identifying excluded beneficiaries and linking vendors and their families with welfare schemes under the SVANidhi Se Samriddhi initiative. Exclusive camps will also be organized in census cities to ensure that no eligible provider is left out.
Officials said the campaign, which will be implemented with the support of banks, FSSAI, municipal vending committees, digital payment aggregators and local bodies, is expected to significantly expand financial inclusion, social security coverage and economic empowerment among street vendors in Telangana.
