OPPO introduced the Reno 16 series in global markets just days before its launch in India on July 2. The company has already confirmed that the Reno 16 and Reno 16C will debut in the country, with the latter expected to be a rebranded version of the globally launched Reno 16F 5G. OPPO’s new Bubble wireless display accessory is also heading to India, adding a unique hardware addition to the lineup.
Globally, the series comprises Reno 16 5G, Reno 16 Pro 5G and Reno 16F 5G. All three phones run ColorOS 16, have an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance, and support 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. A new addition to the lineup is the new AI Snap Key, which can be customized to trigger screen recordings, voice memos, or AI-powered Mind Space with different button presses.
OPPO Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro Specifications
The Reno 16 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, while the Reno 16 Pro switches to the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super. Both feature compact 6.32-inch AMOLED displays, with the Pro offering a smoother 144Hz refresh rate compared to the standard model’s 120Hz panel.
The camera hardware is another key differentiator. The Reno 16 combines a trio of 50MP sensors, including telephoto and ultra-wide cameras, while the Pro upgrades to a 200MP main camera along with a 50MP telephoto and ultra-wide cameras. Both phones feature a 50MP selfie camera and support up to 3.5x optical zoom. With these camera specifications, the Reno 16 series would compete against existing rivals like Vivo X200T and Xiaomi 17T.
The Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro include 6700 mAh batteries, which should be more than enough for a full day of use.
OPPO Reno 16F Specifications
Meanwhile, the Reno 16F 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy chipset and has a larger 6.57-inch 120Hz AMOLED display. It also has a triple camera setup with 50MP primary sensors, 50MP telephoto (3.5x optical zoom) and 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensors, along with a 50MP front camera. The Reno 16F has a larger 7000 mAh battery than the Reno 16 and Pro models, giving it a slight advantage. Compared to the previous model, the telephoto camera and battery are major improvements to the Reno 16F.
The Reno 16F starts at THB 15,999 (Rs 45,400 approx) for the 8GB + 128GB variant. The Reno 16 starts at THB 19,999 (Rs 56,700 approx) for the 8GB + 256GB model, while the Reno 16 Pro starts at THB 26,999 (Rs 76,600 approx) for the 12GB + 256GB variant.
Among the three, the Reno 16 Pro is aimed at photography enthusiasts looking for top-notch camera hardware, while the Reno 16 strikes a balance between performance and features. If the Reno 16C indeed arrives as the Reno 16F, it could appeal to users who want an affordable alternative to the Reno 16 and 16 Pro, without compromising on cameras. However, since the Reno 15 series is still fresh on the market, it would be best to compare and see if the updates are significant and which model offers the best value.
