Welcome to day 11
Where has the time gone?
There are four more quarterfinals today with action including three Italians, a No. 1 seed and a qualifier. The entire game starts at 11:00.
That qualifier is Poland’s Maja Chwalinksa, the world number 114 whose best result in her only two Grand Slams was a second round at Wimbledon in 2022. She is now in the quarterfinals after defeating Zheng Qinwen, Elise Mertens, Maria Sakkari and Diane Parry. Today she faces Anna Kalinskaya for a spot in the semi-final.
After that, number one seed Aryna Sabalenka faces Diana Shnaider. Sabalenka is focused on the “beautiful” trophy and Shnaider is going to “try to enjoy it.” They are followed by the first of the Italians, the tenth seed Flavio Cobolli, who will face the number 4 seed, Felix Auger-Aliassime. The Canadian is playing his seventh Roland-Garros, Cobolli his fourth.
➡️ Day 11 Match of the day: Is experience key?
The night session brings a totally Italian clash between two Matteos: Berrettini and Arnaldi.
Berrettini is ranked 105th in the world and Arnaldi is 104th. The last Grand Slam quarterfinal between two players ranked outside the ATP top 100 was Pat McEnroe (114) against Cristiano Caratti (101) at the Australian Open in 1991.
