The insurer’s appraiser “shall inspect the damaged motor vehicle within four (4) business days of receipt of the written demand,” provided the vehicle is on the repair shop’s premises when requested. Blow out that window, and the consequences will be dire. Under the bill, if the appraiser fails to conduct a timely inspection, “the insurer will lose its right to inspect the damaged vehicle before repair,” and negotiations are limited to the price of labor and parts. The insurer also loses the ability to dispute whether damage occurred or how the car should be repaired, unless it provides “objective evidence to the contrary”.
