Temperatures will drop as rain is expected over the next three days.

New Delhi: Rain is likely in the city from Wednesday night to Friday, leading to a drop in temperature. Although there is a chance of very light rain or drizzle on Wednesday night, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Thursday and Friday, predicting multiple spells of light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 50 kilometers per hour.The maximum temperature on Tuesday was 31.6 degrees Celsius, almost normal for this time of year. The previous day the temperature was 32.2 degrees Celsius. The high is forecast to remain between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, but is likely to drop by 3 to 4 degrees on Friday.“The city is likely to witness rain under the influence of a westerly disturbance. Daytime temperatures are likely to drop to around 29-31 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 27-29 degrees Celsius on Friday as cloudy skies and rain are expected to provide a cooling effect,” a Met official said.Delhi had been recording above-normal temperatures in March, but rain on Sunday provided relief. The mercury was above 35 degrees Celsius for six consecutive days from March 7 to 12, with a season high of 36.8 degrees Celsius on March 11.The minimum temperature was set on Tuesday at 15.8 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal. It is likely to remain between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius on Thursday and drop to between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius on Saturday.Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality continued in the moderate zone with an AQI of 189. It was 119 on Monday. It is likely to remain moderate till March 20 and six days thereafter, according to the Delhi Air Quality Early Warning System, which is the forecasting body under the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences.
