WASHINGTON (7NEWS) – An investigation is underway after a crash caused a Metro bus to crash into a restaurant in northwest D.C., leaving at least three people injured Saturday morning.
The accident occurred on April 4 near 7th Street and Q Street, NW, where officials said the bus was struck and then crashed into a building, ending up partially inside the AMBAR restaurant, which was empty at the time.
Authorities said three adult women were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries, including the bus driver.
7News was on scene when they finally pulled the bus out of the building just before noon.
Building considered structurally safe
After removing the bus, firefighters said the building showed no major structural integrity issues and no shoring was required.
Earlier, crews secured utilities and conducted a full search of the structure while specialized crews worked to safely remove the bus.
Units began cleaning up the scene after the extraction.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and DC Fire and EMS are leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
