Vincent Kompany does not seem optimistic about the injuries in the match against Atalanta

 & more related news here

Bayern Munich thrashed Atalanta at their home stadium to take a five-goal lead back to Munich for the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie. Thanks to goals from Josip Stanišić, Michael Olise and Serge Gnabry, Bayern led 3-0 at half-time. This huge advantage allowed Vincent Kompany to bring on Alphonso Davies in the second half.

Unfortunately, Davies was substituted in tears after a miserable 26 minutes. In added time, Musiala left the field alone and would probably have re-entered the match if the match had lasted longer. To make matters worse, Bayern conceded a goal in the final seconds and Jonas Urbig appeared to show signs of a concussion.

“Phonzy and Jonas are hurt,” Kompany said (via @iMiaSanMia). “As for Jamal, I’m not sure if it’s something that will keep him out. I don’t want to speculate too much. It has to do with his reintegration and his foot. He’s had some very good days and some days where he feels worse. We are in constant exchange. I’m not worried at all about Jamal. He’ll be back to his best. Until then, we have to consider what’s best for him. As for Jonas and Phonzy, we have to wait for the tests.”

With Manuel Neuer out for a couple more weeks, Urbig’s injury is the immediate concern. Kompany will have to turn to 37-year-old Sven Ulreich or 16-year-old Leonard Prescott.

Musiala should be fine for the Leverkusen game this weekend. With Stanišić and Konrad Laimer healthy, Davies should be allowed to make a full recovery.
