Akhil Kaimal reveals how director Ambrish Verna helped him deal with his doubts on the sets of 'Sapne vs Everyone T2'

Mumbai, May 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Actor Akhil Kaimal is currently seen as Ashvin, a passionate filmmaker from Kerala in the second season of “Sapne vs Everyone”.

Talking about his overall experience of working with the show’s director Ambrish Verma, Akhil said, “On my first day of shooting, we were shooting one of the most crucial scenes in Ashwin’s journey and honestly, I was very nervous. It’s a moment where he is completely broken but still chooses to take care of someone else. I remember wondering if I was approaching it in the right way. That’s when Ambrish bhai, who is the director, writer and also one of the leads in the show, played a song on set, Hand Covers Bruise, and asked me to sit with her.”

He added, “Something about that changed everything. I suddenly understood what Ashwin was feeling. After that, whenever I felt stuck, I would ask him, ‘What music are you listening to for this scene?’ and it became my path to the character.”

Talking about his own perseverance in the shoot, Akhil explained, “Even halfway through the shoot, I wasn’t entirely sure if I was capturing what Ambrish bhai envisioned. I tend to doubt myself, so I kept wondering if I was playing Ashwin accurately.”

He added, “A day before the shoot, we were sitting and chatting, and I asked Ambrish bhai directly. He smiled and told me that he had initially imagined Ashwin very different, more serious, more restrained, but the way he played him gave a new dimension to the character. He mentioned that even the small things, like my smiles and my happier moments, added depth, so he never asked me to change anything.”

He added: “That validation meant a lot to me. But the doubt never really goes away and I think that’s important. It keeps you honest as an actor.”

Akhil further reflected, “In an industry where everyone is chasing the same goals, feeling confident is not always easy. I experienced this during a quiet and emotional scene with Paramvir Singh Cheema on the beach. After the shoot, Param told me that he could really feel everything I was expressing. As actors, we don’t always get to hear that kind of feedback, and it takes a certain level of generosity and trust to recognize the work of others.”

Akhil was last seen in “The Hunt-Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case”, “The Kerala Story” and Netflix’s “Kaala Paani”.

His first Malayalam film “Jalasamadhi” garnered international recognition and since then he has taken up various roles on Hindi and Malayalam film and theater stages across the world.

After “Sapne vs Everyone”, Akhil will now also be seen in Chand Mera Dil, produced by Dharma Films and directed by Vivek Soni, which will release in theaters on June 5. Furthermore, he is also currently filming a period drama for Netflix, produced by Balaji Telefilms and Chalkboard Entertainment.
