Hero Moto to invest Rs 3,200 crore in Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi: Hero MotoCorp is set to invest Rs 3,200 crore in Andhra Pradesh over the next three to five years, as India’s largest two-wheeler maker ramps up manufacturing, strengthens its global supply chain and expands beyond vehicle production into higher-margin businesses such as accessories and sales.The investment includes Rs 750 crore for a second Global Parts Center (GPC 2.0) at the company’s Tirupati plant, which will support domestic operations while supplying spare parts and Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits to overseas markets. The company expects the new facility to be operational within two years. Hero also plans to significantly expand production capacity at its Tirupati plant, taking annual production from around six lakh units to between 12 lakh to 15 lakh units. The expansion is expected to create approximately 4,000 jobs. The facility currently manufactures internal combustion engine motorcycles and scooters as well as the company’s electric vehicles.Hero MotoCorp Executive Chairman Pawan Munjal said this expansion reflects the company’s long-term confidence in Andhra Pradesh.
