Thousands of dollars worth of property was destroyed when a severe storm hit Nyadire Mission in Matoko yesterday.
The violence left a trail of destruction in two schools, Teachers College and parts of the hospital.
When ZBC News visited the mission, there was debris strewn everywhere, while the community was still in shock.
Head of Nyadire Primary School, Mr Tendai Mushapadeze and his secondary school counterpart, Mr Isiah Mudiwa said that although they have managed to arrange alternative classrooms and accommodation for students, the destruction has caused a lot of inconvenience and they need resources to repair the damaged infrastructure.
Principal of Nyadir Teachers College, Mrs Rosemary Nyarugwe, said the entire community was still in shock and appealed for assistance to repair the destroyed buildings.
The storm that lasted for about 40 minutes caused the power line supplying electricity to the institute to fall due to a fallen tree, which also affected the water supply, as it can only be pumped by electricity.
